Original Data Conversion & LoadingPhase I Completion Phase II Utilities Data Loading Data FAQ REGIS Data Homepage
Data Conversion - Phase I Completion The initial data conversion component of the REGIS system was initiated at the end of 1998 and completed in the fall of 2001. The conversion component was a project unto itself with many, many details. Thousands of pounds of paper sources were transferred back and forth between the Conversion Project Team to make this successful. The conversion project team, under the direction of systems integrator SchlumbergerSema (formerly Convergent Group) and the REGIS Staff was made up of individuals from the participating units of government, the REGIS Agency, SchlumbergerSema, and also many individuals from the conversion contractor, Analytical Surveys, Inc. (ASI). Throughout the conversion project, this team included hundreds of individuals averaging 12 full time individuals at any given point. The completed project includes data from 13 different data areas or submodels. These submodels are detailed in the following page: Data Conversion - Phase II Utilities A second wave of data conversion for public utilities was largely complete during 2002. It included Water, Sanitary and Storm utilities for a number of the REGIS participants. Originally, this conversion effort was being done in-house by REGIS Technicians. However, as the data maintenance needs for the entire data warehouse increases, the Technicians at REGIS have refocused to meet the needs of maintenance. The remainder of the project was then awarded to ASI - Wisconsin. To date, REGIS Technicians, headed up by Shane Pavlak, completed the conversion for the City of Grandville, Alpine Township, and Plainfield Township, while ASI completed the utility conversion for the following participants:
All Quality Control/Quality Assurance reviews of the data are done by REGIS Technicians. This team is headed up by Shane Pavlak and also includes our REGIS Interns. This conversion process was completed in the third quarter of 2002. Once the data has been converted and is found acceptable, the data is moved from its native conversion format (ArcInfo) and loaded into the SDE database. Although this process has proven to be time consuming and at times complicated, it is a necessary and prepares the Agency for the upcomg migration to the Arc8/9 environment. The data loading process is headed-up by GIS Specialist Irene Serrano. Data Conversion Frequently Asked Questions Please see the Frequently Asked Data Conversion Questions page.
